The last few months have been filled with uncertainty as we continue to adapt to changes caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. We deeply miss all of our patients and the Whitby orthodontics community as a whole. As our team at Taunton Orthodontics cautiously transitions into a new normal, we wanted to share some changes we’ve made that have your comfort and confidence in mind.

Virtual Consults

Due to the restrictions that have been put on dental and orthodontic practices, we’re currently unable to schedule any in-person appointments that aren’t considered an emergency. However, we understand that some of our patients might have questions or concerns about their oral health or orthodontic care. Our patients are our top priority and we want to ensure that we are here for you, even during difficult times like these.

Through virtual consulting, our team can assess and answer some of the issues or questions you may have. Whether you have a general inquiry or questions about Invisalign, clear aligners or braces, we can now consult with you online! The virtual consulting process is quick and accessible for anyone to complete in the comfort of their own home. All we require is your contact information, what improvements you want to make, a preferred treatment method and some photos of your smile!

How to Take Orthodontic Photos at Home

All you need to take orthodontic photos at home are two spoons and a cellphone. We would need five different angles of your mouth for a proper assessment. The photos should include a view from the center, the right side, the left side, the top of your mouth and the bottom of your mouth. Here are some tips to help make it even easier:

Have a friend or family member take the photos for you
Relax your lips and cheeks
Bite together on your back teeth
Turn the flash on

It's my absolute pleasure to write this REVIEW on behalf of myself and my husband, Joel, regarding our experience with having Dr. David Shapiro for our daughter, Emily's, orthodontist, these past 5 years! We first met Dr. Shapiro on reference from my dentist back in 2012, for an initial consultation. It was recommended then that Emily required extensive dental surgery, prior to any orthodontics, undoubtedly forthcoming. On March 6, 2014, our journey of braces began, under the unprecedented guidance of Dr. Shapiro, in what was to be Emily's unique requirements :) She had 2 teeth lying horizontally in the back roof of her mouth. The previous surgery required the cutting of the gums to expose those teeth, gold chains affixing them to other frontal teeth in order to slowly move them, over the next few years, downwards into a vertical position and then forward into their "parking spots" in the upper front row. Dr. Shapiro was continually inspirational, comforting, empathetic, smiling through every appointment, every concern, every question -- a beside manner second-to-none! When a wire came loose that we deemed an "emergency", we were met, more than once, at his office, on long-weekend holidays, for quick repair. Braces on the top, followed by braces on the bottom, followed by a NEW smile with braces removed end of June 2016! Emily since wearing her retainer day and night, to perfect her new look, and continually monitored by Dr. Shapiro. Any person fortunate enough to entrust their orthodontic needs to Dr. Shapiro will surely SMILE :) Faithfully, Heather, Joel & Emily Cooper

All the staff members are very friendly and knowledgeable, you always feel very welcome at this office. The office space is very beautiful and Megan is the best receptionist I have ever met(and I have met a lot of receptionists)! I had my braces done here and I am glad I chose Taunton Orthodontics as my whole experience with them was very positive and enjoyable. I always recommend this office to anyone in need of orthodontic treatment as Dr.Shapiro and Dr.Singer are the best.

Fantastic experience Dr. Singer and her staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They are busy and you could never tell by the flexibility of their scheduling and the attention they give their patients. It never feels rushed and always have the time to explain or answer questions. Competency is high, great results and professional care! My teenager son was not too keene on braces but Dr. Singer played an important role in him accepting it. More importantly. I fully trust them and will recommend them. Thank you Dr. Singer.

I would like to thank Dr Singer and her staff for making braces a great experience for both my daughters. Having had braces myself, I was very nervous for my girls because of the horrible experience I had with my treatment. By the end of the first appointment, I knew they were in good hands. Dr Singer is very knowledgeable, honest and caring as well as her staff from the front of the office to the back and we look forward to our appointments. Great service and gladly recommend!

I want to share my experience from the beginning until the end. I started going with my daughter who needed an expander, I happened to ask a few questions while there about my teeth. I found them to be very helpful and not in the least bit pushy. I decided to go forward with braces for a second time. Because I only had minor shifting to be done I only needed them a shorter amount of time. I found them to be so accommodating to my work schedule, and would always fit me in if I needed anything. I received only the best customer service from the lovely ladies at reception, to the dental hygienist/assistant's to the orthodontist. This is a place of integrity, they were honest and worked me on what I needed and wanted. I would 100 percent recommend Taunton Orthodontics and will continue to share my experience as they deserve the credit. It is never too late to get braces :-) it's your smile.

We're effervescently grateful for our Son's braces experience with Taunton Orthodontics. Dr. Emily Singer and her Team have gone above and beyond all of our expectations since November 2016: from fixing pokey wires and broken brackets as emergency drop-in appointments (usually just before starting the weekend and sometimes even outside of business hours!), to employing the kindest and most accommodating Receptionists *ever*, and everyone being sincerely interested and engaged in cultivating our happiness (whether trading stories of great board games or not), we've enjoyed it all! We'd definitely recommend Taunton Ortodontics to anyone requiring orthodontic treatment services and/or advice. When we started out, we were dealing with an extreme overbite, overcrowding, and supernumerary teeth, and now, just 18 months later, we're elated with a healthy, functional, comfortable, and sincere smile. Dr. Singer, Dr. Shapiro and the rest of the staff are amazing!! From the moment I stepped into the office I received nothing but first class service. The whole team is professional, friendly, comforting and well organized. I viewed a few offices prior to comitting here and to be honest Tauton Orthodontics was a little higher in price but I liked what I saw. I'm glad to say that it was well worth the extra money and I'm glad I made the right choice. I would 100% recommend their services.

The staff of Taunton Orthodontics go above and beyond to ensure that you are taken care of from the moment you walk in. The Treatment Coordinators, the Orthodontic Assistants, as well as Dr.Emily Singer, explain all the procedures in detail and have a great way of making you feel comfortable. They are reliable, professional and accommodate your schedule when booking appointments and in the case of emergencies. My daughter has been a patient of Dr. Emily Singers for almost a year. She regularly gets complements on how great her teeth are looking and we can’t believe the positive change that has happened in her bite and how quickly the change has come about. The care she has received has consistently exceeded our expectations. The office runs on time and everyone who enters is greeted with a smile. The office space is modern, inviting and is always immaculate. If you are looking for an orthodontist for yourself or a loved one you must go see Dr Singer for a consult!!

At 37 years old I finally decided to take action and remedy what has been something I have not liked about myself for my entire life. My teeth had large spaces and were rotated incorrectly. Growing up as a child into my teen years I was the subject of ridicule and teasing as a result of my teeth. There are zero photos of me as a child, teenager or adult where I am showing my teeth in a smile. As an adult, I would be afraid to smile and people thought I was not a happy person at times. So, I brought myself into Taunton Orthodontics at age 37. Finally, I was going to fix my smile. Right from the moment of the initial consultation, I felt welcomed and part of their family. The consultation was amazing along with how the billing schedule and insurance was set up Yesterday, after 20 months of treatment my braces were removed. The transformation has been incredible. I will say, the very first thing I did was take a photo with my teeth exposed in a smile. Today, my first full day at work I have been smiling more than I ever have.
