Breakfast Recommendations for New Braces!

Has your child recently had their braces put on? During the first week of their treatment, patients can experience some discomfort. As parents, we know you want to help! At Taunton Orthodontics, we have a few recommendations for your child’s breakfast during their new treatment.

Many breakfast foods are crunchy and difficult to eat with braces. You may think making bacon will be a nice treat and ease the pain, unfortunately, this will increase their discomfort. Here are the breakfast items we recommend you avoid: bacon, cereal, peanut butter on toast, and granola bars!

The best foods you can make for your child are soft! Here are breakfast foods we recommend you make for your child: scrambled eggs, pancakes, croissants, yogurt or smoothies! These are great options as they don’t interfere with your child’s braces and make brushing afterwards less of a hassle!

If you have any questions about your child’s orthodontic care, don’t hesitate to call our office, we are happy to help! Here at Taunton Orthodontics, we want you to have an enjoyable orthodontic experience from start to finish.

If you would like to see if your child qualifies for orthodontic treatment, contact us for a consultation! Our orthodontic office serves the communities of Oshawa, Ajax, Whitby and Brooklin and the rest of the Durham region.
